Struggles of a dog-mom

Image 1: my dog avoiding a photo as always

Every person has his or her own struggles and the dog-mom community has some added very own "battles."

Photo bomber
My smart dog doesn't let me take a sinlge photo with him! Not even one! All does is photo bombing. This was my most recent struggle and what crossed my mind that I had to write about

The Diva
My dog has to be dragged every morning for breakfast! Before having his morning meal he's the grumpiest. We have been feeding him on most mornings for many years. He doesn't eat on his own in the morning and expects us to feed him. Just when his tummy is full, he's the cutest in the family running around in the house

At the vet
This doesn't apply to me and my dog anymore as my dog gets all of the vet treatment at home without any vet bill. Leaving this aside, long before I started practicing I remember taking my dog to the veterinarian atleast once a month. Finding a tuk to take him, sparing time of about 1-2 hours at the vet were struggles. Coming home to a whole lot of tablets and capsules to give to the dog was the worst night mare

Maintenance
Isn't this hard work? To keep your dog groomed, bathed and keeping him fragrant on a regular basis 😉... now who's not guilty of this??? 😋 A weekly bath, daily brushing, daily exercise, regular tooth brushing, regular tick control, regular vet check ups amidst one's busy schedule...what a battle???? But you've got to do 'em all because you know the consequences of not sticking by to the rules 😅
🙌

Everyone is "The Dog's mom" 🙄
Everyone in our family wants to be our dog's mom, role-playing dog-motherhood at different times of the day...the struggle to be the mother of the Diva is real!

While your dog can be the best dog ever and the best thing that has happened to you had you ever realised how far you have come in the midst of all of these high-end dog attitudes and how much of it have you enjoyed? I have loved most of it and surely are some confessions as a dog mom

What are your soft struggles as a dog mom?  Or what memories do you make with your dog?
I'd love to hear from you in the comments below

Until next time!

What took me to the UN

I was invited to the United Nations' International Labour Organization for a consultative meeting with the stakeholders of the entrepreneurial system to conduct a start-up ecosystem mapping for the first time in Sri Lanka on the 17th of January 2025 This is my first time to even go to the United Nations and I'm grateful that I was invited. In my invitation it mentioned that I was invited for the potential that I showcased as a young entrepreneur  There were only four young entrepreneurs who were invited while the rest was about 50 other massive stakeholders and entrepreneurs themselves But, what exactly made me to the UN? I was pondering about the "potential" and yes, I think I figured out  1. social impact : aligns with 10 SDGs of UN From healing pets to creating industries, employment and promoting innovation, my work expands in the most sustainable ways 2. health impact : promotes longevity and sustainability of pets directly and human beings indirectl...

Leptospirosis as a zoonosis

Leptospirosis awareness A timely topic as there's a Leptospirosis outbreak in the Northern province of Sri Lanka. I see a gap in the level of awareness on prevention and transmission regarding this topic although there are plenty of sources to explain the symptoms of the disease. It's vital to raise awareness on prevention of spread of the disease among the non-infected at a same level as of the attempts to cure the already infected individuas! Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease - a disease that is transmitted to humans via animals Leptospirosis, also known as "මී උණ" in Sinhala is a highly contagious disease caused by the bacteria Leptospira The carrier of the disease is rodents such as rats, mice and even squirrels The carriers can transmit Leptospira bacteria to most of the mammals such as humans, dogs, cats, cattle, horses, wild animals and marine mammals How does the bacteria enter into an individual? There are several ways by which the bacter...
