how I spend my days

It's always one day at a time for me. No big plans. No big dreams. Living an ordinary life as would anyone from a middle class family. "Middle class?" Why this word? It's the daily struggle to earn a better living, while you're already thriving a moderate life

Getting back to the topic
Starting off my day with a mug of enriched milk I take my to-do diary - the diary in which I write my daily to-dos. I go through the list of things that I'm supposed to do for the day and keep 'em behind my mind. Then I either go for a walk with my mother or I do a little Zumba as a kick off. Stronger me will prepare breakfast for my dog, feed him, put his bed linen under the sun and dress up to go to the clinic - what I own and where I work. In the meantime I call the veterinary laboratory to coordinate the process of sending samples to them everyday. For breakfast I mostly eat rice and sometimes a healthy smoothy with green leaves or fruits and at times something like bread or rotti. Rotti is my favourite 😋

At the clinic it's WORK. WORK. WORK. I'm my own boss and I'm my own servant too, at the clinic. From sweeping, mopping, cleaning, dusting to treating patients, operating on them, purchasing drugs and pet supplies I do it all, not entirely by myself, my parents got my back to support and cheer me. I tick off my to-dos one by one. I'm home for lunch and a small break.

The evening session at the clinic is then up where I stay till a little late to see my patients. Heading up home for dinner and some quality time with my dog. This is the time for me to recharge, review my to-do list, write my to-dos for the next day, post something on my official veterinary clinic page @vet4petanimalclinic, write something on my blog and scroll the Internet looking out for anything new. On some days none of these is possible when I have cases that I need to refer on

Then I have a good night's sleep for about 8 hours

Anyone who would love an inspiration could take it from this writing. I'm no influencer, just an ordinary person living a low key life. Aren't you the same??? Comment below

Cheers folks

What took me to the UN

I was invited to the United Nations' International Labour Organization for a consultative meeting with the stakeholders of the entrepreneurial system to conduct a start-up ecosystem mapping for the first time in Sri Lanka on the 17th of January 2025 This is my first time to even go to the United Nations and I'm grateful that I was invited. In my invitation it mentioned that I was invited for the potential that I showcased as a young entrepreneur  There were only four young entrepreneurs who were invited while the rest was about 50 other massive stakeholders and entrepreneurs themselves But, what exactly made me to the UN? I was pondering about the "potential" and yes, I think I figured out  1. social impact : aligns with 10 SDGs of UN From healing pets to creating industries, employment and promoting innovation, my work expands in the most sustainable ways 2. health impact : promotes longevity and sustainability of pets directly and human beings indirectl...

Leptospirosis as a zoonosis

Leptospirosis awareness A timely topic as there's a Leptospirosis outbreak in the Northern province of Sri Lanka. I see a gap in the level of awareness on prevention and transmission regarding this topic although there are plenty of sources to explain the symptoms of the disease. It's vital to raise awareness on prevention of spread of the disease among the non-infected at a same level as of the attempts to cure the already infected individuas! Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease - a disease that is transmitted to humans via animals Leptospirosis, also known as "මී උණ" in Sinhala is a highly contagious disease caused by the bacteria Leptospira The carrier of the disease is rodents such as rats, mice and even squirrels The carriers can transmit Leptospira bacteria to most of the mammals such as humans, dogs, cats, cattle, horses, wild animals and marine mammals How does the bacteria enter into an individual? There are several ways by which the bacter...
