Goodbyes to the Negative Nancies

It's the 31st of January 2022 and where has my motivation gone? I thought to myself It's the last day of the month, the number of covid patients are increasing, the country's economy is going down and I lately felt like I have no tomorrow. Thinking in this way hasn't changed my gains, I realised The new seduction is "Positivity" Being positive all the time doesn't make sense, I know but atleast you could get your things done more peacefully at heart and mind. Positivity brings a sense of peace within one's self It's a new month from tomorrow. You always have time to begin. Think of what you must have focused on but you couldn't. Write them down in a diary. Number them according to your priority. Schedule times. Work them out! Never procrastinate! Think of the skills that you want to improve on. Write them down. Work them out! Think of the self care that you missed. Write them down. Work them out! Think of what you missed on your pet ....

Struggles of a dog-mom

Image 1: my dog avoiding a photo as always Every person has his or her own struggles and the dog-mom community has some added very own "battles." Photo bomber My smart dog doesn't let me take a sinlge photo with him! Not even one! All does is photo bombing. This was my most recent struggle and what crossed my mind that I had to write about The Diva My dog has to be dragged every morning for breakfast! Before having his morning meal he's the grumpiest. We have been feeding him on most mornings for many years. He doesn't eat on his own in the morning and expects us to feed him. Just when his tummy is full, he's the cutest in the family running around in the house  At the vet This doesn't apply to me and my dog anymore as my dog gets all of the vet treatment at home without any vet bill. Leaving this aside, long before I started practicing I remember taking my dog to the veterinarian atleast once a month. Finding a tuk to take him, sparing time of...

Peace of mind

How have you been? I have been doing pretty good, I said Why "pretty"? Well, there were days when I wanted to cry, days when I wanted to laugh out loud and also days when I felt like I wasn't part of the world Today I felt like I was nonexistent. Chaos in my mind that I had to pretend that I was fine and I'm sure you have also had plenty of days as such. During monents like these I practice some activities to regain my peace of mind  Activities that help me cope up - slow and conscious breathing   My most favourite activity to help relieve myself of anything and everything is slow conscious breathing. I believe in living a life in the middle path (I'm not deeply into any religion). When feeling sad, I breathe slow and even when I'm overly happy still I breathe slow to make sure that I'm in the middle path and that I'm grounded. To those who wonder what the middle path is, it is to live a life where you're not extremely sad nor extreme...

Keep your dog's gastritis at bay

If your dog has been diagnosed by your veterinarian for gastritis, gastroduodenitis or gastric ulcers this post is for you. While your dog is under a veterinarian's treatment for these conditions here are a few home tips to consider Dietery tips 1. An early breakfast An early morning breakfast around 6 am or 7 am works wonders. The meal should not be of anything wheat. Try a heavy meal in liquid form or semi solid form To my dog who had gastric ulcers for sometime what worked best was a meal that contained of blended rice and milk/oats/cereals  2. A late dinner Many dog owners do not either give their dog the dinner (to keep the dog awake at night for guarding purposes) or give an early dinner around 5pm and then breakfast around 10 am. Would you ever survive if you were on the same routine? C'mon folks, give your dog a late dinner! It will minimize gastric burns 3. Regular meals at specific times of the day Busy schedules at homes affect the dog, I know. Th...

Wandering around wonders

Yesterday I gathered myself up to take a break from my zombie world to move out to spend some quality time with nature; greenery is what I mean because I spend more of my life with pets. The only place I could think of at that time as nature was my home garden We have a small but beautiful 😋 garden and the credit goes to both of my parents for keeping it nice and tidy. Not many flowering plants that we have and most of them are non flowering plants I came across some beautiful flowers and the zombie in me thought that I should share some pictures of the flowers with you Image 1: Daisy flower Image 2: Daisy flower Image 3: Tabernaemontana divaricata  Image 4: purple Orchid Image 5:  Kandyan Dancer Orchid "And I think to myself What a wonderful world" Share images of your garden with me in the comments below, I'd love to see

Grateful

Image 0: unsplash.com Lately I was back to my not-so-motivated mood until I woke up and realised that it was never in my new year resolutions list to feel this way. Sat up on bed, got my diary re wrote my priorities for the day and pushed myself out of the room YouTube has been my trending app ever since the covid lock down hit. Opened up a "Zumba for beginners" video and began moving. I felt like my brain, my hands were not coordinating with my feet at times but it was a great kick! My dog waiting next to me was doing a short stares at me like "whach the heck are ya up to, now?" Didn't care, was gigling and enjoying throughout the Zumba Green cunji (කොළ කැඳ, in Sinhala) is what my mother treated our entire family with, next. Every sip was soothing to the eyes, nose, tongue and to my entire system. I had it with a small piece of Palm jaggery (කිතුල් හකුරු) Image 1: green   cunji by my mother for all four of us  Green cunji recipe: Ingredients  - Shatavar...

Success

Becoming rich? No Becoming a doctor/engineer? Never  Belonging to a particular religion/race? Not at all Success to me is being able to spend more time with one's family and to have an open mindset for personal growth  Spending more time with one's family:  Where else should you put your energy in? A healthy family should be everything. If you're rich in your mind and if your family has your back, you own the world No matter how much money you have or how many riches you own, if you do not support your family you're not successful, my dear friend. Family comes first because they have you're back after all. The word family I refer to in this context is your immediate family; your mother, father, siblings, spouse and your children The present generation is seduced by social media and all they want more of is high life. When you dig deep you will realise that it's all empty down there in their hearts and lives. Many followers over social media but destr...
